The Birds

Let's hope bad luck doesn't come in threes. In May of this year, Bob's Aunt Sis's house burned, it was a total loss. We saw it in June when we were in Wisconsin, it was heart breaking. She was Lucky with a capital L, because she was out of town visiting one of her sisters and Mike, her grandson, was staying with friends in town. The fire roared to life in the middle of the night, and by the time the neighbors realized what was happening, and called for help, it was too late to save the house. Her son Jim was one of the firefighters on the scene. I just spoke to her to see how the re-build is going. Looks as if she'll be able to move in to her "new" home in January, 2008. She's busy buying furniture and all the things that make a house a home. Both of her sons, Jim and Chuck, and their wives, Sara and Kelly, have been a big help to her on all the decisions that are necessary when you're building a new house.

While we were chatting, tonight, Aunt Sis told me that Jim and Sara were "staying by" her (that's Wisconsin talk for staying with). Ya, she said, they had a fire at their house two weeks ago. Thank goodness, it wasn't a total loss, just very inconvenient. Sara called Lorraine, that's Aunt Sis's real name, at 2AM and told her, "We're standing outside because the house is on fire." Jim woke up and smelled the smoke before the smoke alarms went off. They were safe and the insurance company is assessing what can be saved and what needs to be replaced.

We're all just hoping that Chuck and Kelly's house is safe!!
