Sky Watch Friday

This week, we had nothing but clear skies, here in Southern California. These two photos of the same rose were taken several hours apart; the top one at 6AM, and the bottom one at 2PM. Hope you had a wonderful week and great skies.

Sky Watch Friday

Be sure to visit all the Sky Watchers, here.

The first two photos were taken as soon as I left the bookstore, about 6 PM.

The last two I shot as I was stopped at a red light, upon exiting the freeway. I'm always facinated by the mohawk motorcycle helmets, and thought I'd take a shot. I flooded the bottom one with light, so you could see, I was caught!

Sky Watch Friday

This week I captured wonderful cloud photos, on my drive home from work.

I took these when I was stopped, of course.

On this one, the sun had just slipped below the hills.

These Graham Thomas roses grow as tall as the house.
From this view, at 6 AM, they look as if they're reaching for the sky.

This is the view of white fluffy clouds, at 3 PM, on my way to teach Tai Chi.

Sky Watch Friday

These photos were taken at the Long Beach Marina, recently. Above is the sky and the mast of a schooner. Below is an ant's eye view of the sky past the anchor, and opening, in the bow of a boat.

Sky Watch Friday

This week, I was lucky enough to catch the fog creeping over the mountains from the coast. It always reminds me of the Sandburg poem.

Fog (Carl Sandburg)

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

Sky Watch Friday

This are the last of the monsoonal clouds we've had. The some of the clouds below, remind me of Saturn's rings.

Sky Watch Friday

We live in a broad valley. This week we had monsoonal conditions, but the clouds stayed on the other side of the hills, for the most part, leaving us with bright blue skies, and humidity.

Sky Watch Friday - Sky, Building, Butterfly

I love the Wedbush building in downtwon L.A.; just as I was taking the photo a butterfly came into the frame, pure serendipity.
