As The Garden Grows, Calla Lily

After a brief respite, it’s raining again; liquid sunshine in California speak. We really need the rain, after last year’s draught, but really!

These are black and white photos I took about 30 years ago, at our home in Long Beach.

This is my pot of Calla Lilies, on our back patio, I took yesterday morning. One day I complained to my friend Lillian that as much as I loved them, every time I planted Calla Lilies, here in Murrieta, they did very poorly. Within a short time, she showed up at my house with this pot of lilies. She’d divided some that had been her mothers, potted them up and given them to me. They’ve been on my patio for six years, and doing great.

I LOVE calla lilies! When we had an atrium in Texas I planted some in it. :0) Just love 'em! And I love your photos of them!

I love the merger of past and present. The older I get the more I cherish it. Love the black and white vs. the color. 30 years ago, the technology wasn't even HERE to be able to post pictures like this, and "Post" was done by the MAILMAN!!
