We're eating lunch yesterday, and this is part of our conversation:
Bob, "The ant guy's coming tomorrow?"
Jan, "Gah, I don't know, I'll have to check."
Jan, "You know, I never can keep track of when he's coming; I think you should be in charge of him."
Bob, "I don't want to be in charge of him or anyone or anything else!"
Bob, "My days of being in charge are over!"
Jan, "So, you just want me to be in charge of everything, still?"
Bob, "Yes!"
Some background. When we moved from Long Beach, where we occasionally had ants in the house, to Murrieta we discovered the whole valley is the home to gazillions of ants; and they're not content to stay outside. No, I think they like air conditioning. A layperson is not equipped to deal with them. After a few years, we called in the professionals, hence, the ant guy.
The thing that makes the funny is when Bob first went on the LAPD, in 1970, he thought he was pretty hot stuff, and could boss me around. It was a good try, but I informed his ass that his authority stopped at the curb, in front of the house. Out in the world he could be the boss, jump over tall buildings in a single bound, leap fences at will, and fight the bad guys; but I was in charge of the house and yard. It worked very well, and when he retired, after 28 ½ years, he asked if he could have some authority on this side of the curb, since he no longer a boss out in the world. I said that since it was working so well, for so long, why didn't we leave it the way it was.

Keep it the some! I love your theory about whose the boss after you pass the curb. I think I have to tell my husband that one.

thank you so much for the book. I haven't had a chance to sit and read but I have perused it. I am excited.

He doesn't want to even be in charge of the ant guy?
Those COPS! What are we going to do with them?? I think it would make my cop nervous to be in charge of the house and everything in it. I think that's one charge that would get the best of him.
Hahaha...you go girl!!!:)
