ABC Wednesday - U

One day I was at a nearby pond, with my camera, of course. I squatted down to take a shot of some mallards, and right in front of me, concealed in some bushes was this huge duck, a Muscovy Duck. I was really close, I was startled; but the duck was calm and I got a couple of shots. I had no idea what type of duck this was, other than Ugly, so I did some research to come up with it's generic name, it's real name is Cairina moschata. Even after I educated myself, I still think he's ugly. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Sorry if anyone is a Muscovy Duck lover.

Visit all the participants at Mrs. Nesbitts.

No, Muscovy duck lovers here. My parents used to live in a condominium next to a golf courrse. They and their neighbors used to feed quail that visited. Soon, they were feeding ducks including about 50 Muscovy ducks. Eventually the condominium/golf course management carted the ducks to another location. Needless to say, the neighbors quit feeding the quail.

He's only ugly to you. But then you're not a duck. So it's ok.

Interesting about this type of duck - we do not have them here. They are actually so ugly you might even call them cute. lol
