Fun Monday

This week Fun Monday is brought to us by one of my fav blog-pals, Lisa. This is what she wants: I would like to know what your quirks are. Confess to one, confess to ten, you decide. Just come back Monday ready to spill the beans, the rest of the world may look at you like you are from Mars, but you‘re among friends here. We won’t laugh, in fact that eccentricity just may endear you to us more.

The truth is, and don't repeat this, I'm not normal. I've always marched to my own drummer, and just gotten on down the road the best I can. So, you see, it's hard for me to identify a quirk or two, because I'm not normal. I asked Bob what he thought my quirks were and he's so acustomed to me, he was equally stymied. However, I really wanted to play, today, so I did come up with one or two. I know there must be more, but......

My first quirk, I'm sure almost no one else has, I eat oatmeal most mornings, this is not the quirk, year round; and I don't like a bowl of plain oatmeal. I like my oatmeal jazzy, that's it.

So instead of getting out all my jazzy ingredients each and every morn, I make up Jan's Jazzy Oatmeal packets, in assembly fashion, about 40 at a time. This way I don't have to do it all that often. I used the ingredients I like the best. They give my oatmeal the Jazzy part.

I add a heaping soup spoon full, this is very scientific you know, of walnut halves,

dried cranberries

golden raisins to a sandwich-sized zip-lock baggie.

Doesn't that look beautiful, yummy and jazzy?

Then I add a half cup of oatmeal, zip it up,

and store it on top of the fridge, next to the dog treats.

My other quirky thing, that I admit to, also involves food. No, I don't weigh 300 lbs., yet. When I make tuna sandwiches, I add diced celery, chopped sweet pickles, mayo and sliced almonds to the tuna. Bet you haven't heard of that one, either.

Now go visit all the FM playes, at Lisa's Chaos.

Making up your oatmeal packets is brilliant. I'm going to have to remember that one.

Love the oatmeal idea! I think I may have to try that one out!

The oatmeal looks tasty. I eat oatmeal every morning in the cold months (yogurt in the warm). The tuna sounds good, too. I add a little sugar to mine to take the edge off the fishiness.

Sounds to me like a smart gal and not quirky at all.

My FM is posted...come on over!!

I love oatmeal -- and I've fixed it very similar, but I don't package it ahead of time.

You're more organized and efficient than quirky.

You can keep the golden raisins, but other than that, I LIKE the way you think.

I love oatmeal in the morning too but I’ve never thought of making ‘jazzy packets’ … what a great idea! As for your ‘tuna’ additions … reminds me that when I first became a Weight Watcher I used to add pineapples and banana slices, but haven’t done that in a long while. Mine’s up at Small Reflections.
Hugs and blessings,

I like my oatmeal jazzy, too! I don't eat it nearly as often as you, though. I like pecans over walnuts - but yours looks yummy!

You would certainly be capable of jazzing up my husband's daily bowl of oatmeal.

Now the almonds? That's bizarre!

My husband used to eat everything but oatmeal, he thought oatmeal had to be bland, cold, and lumpy. Finally, my sons and I convinced him that he could add some tasty tidbits to make a delicious breakfast treat. Now, like you he eats oatmeal everyday. I like mine with brown sugar, raisins and evaporated milk.

Oooooooo, I bet the almonds give the tuna a nice crunch!

I love the additions you make. I don't think that sounds quirky. It sounds gourmet.

Thanks for the idea on the oatmeal. I will have to try making some up. Don't eat much tuna but yours sounds delicious.

I was going to say oatmeal bleh yuck! But then you go ahead and make it all interesting! Mind you I could just go ahead and eat the additives there (never thought Id say that ever!) all on their own!

You made me laugh with the Tuna add ons too! Turning all food into a taste explosion is pretty up my alley too! Anything too plain is a bit boring hey?

I think it's kinda neat that so many of us have food quirks. And I have to admit your oatmeal does look jazzy and fun! I usually only add butter, sugar and a drop of milk. :)

Thanx for playing. :)

What a good and nutritious idea--an oatmeal stash. Takes all the questions out of breakfast. In the south we put pecans--and OJ concentrate--in chicken salad. Is that quirky?

your oatmeal packets look delicious!!! you should market them!!!

I think I will steal your quirk... err.. recipe. They just don't make the perfect oatmeal in a pack. And I am all about convenience.

I love oatmeal too, I ate it EVERYDAY when I was in advanced training in the army

That sounds good. Great, now I'm hungry.

My brother call it gruel and is force (self imposed) to eat it 4 morning a week. But it doesn't seam all that all. And I love the new pic.

That was a very moving tribute you wrote for Ramona, even though I never met her, I think she was a great lady!
Now about the quirky side of you, I don't really think it is quirky at all, it all sounds very reasonnable and normal AND very practical, and most of all DELICIOUS!!!!!
The only thing I think is a little bit odd, is the storage part. Next to the dog treats? I mean really!!! LOL!

My brother eats oatmeal plain every single day. That's the way I like mine too. Sometimes, I'll put some applesauce in it - but I guess my family likes their food unadorned.
