Fun Monday

Our hostess with the mostest this week is Woodlandmama of A Monkey in the Wrong Tree, and this is the assignment:

"Write the beginning of an unusual love story (not a real one). I only want the first paragraph. You can add an illustration or a picture to spice it up if you are really daring."

Boy, I hope she's not looking for a bodice-ripper, not from me.

She's sitting at her usual spot the bar, listening to the band, when two guys sit down on her left and start making conversation. The closest guy, gives off that "God's gift to women" aura; the second guy's just kinda quiet, but she's pretty sure she hears a hint of a southern accent, a personal weakness. The guys get to teasing her; telling her they think she's in love with the lead singer in the band.

Finally, the closest guy gets up to use the facilities, and she moves over to his bar stool, in order to find out if there might be something worth exploring with Mr. Southern accent. After some small talk, she says, "There's a guy I've been seeing." Mr Southern accent says, "I don't mind, if you don't mind."

End of paragraph.

BTW, I wanted to mention the surgery that's upcoming, it's for Bob. He's a retired detective and has always been very althletic. Serious injury to his spine has been causing him a lot of pain, and restricting what he can do. He can't even do Tai Chi! He can still ride his bike(s), and is hoping to resume his other activities after spine surgery later this month. He'll never be able to do a triathalon again, but it's our hope he can have less pain and be more active. Thank all of you that expressed concern for me, I appreciate it, but will pass it on to the love of my life, Bob.

I can totally say that the response from "interesting southern guy" is not unexpected! How clever. Loved your illustrations.

Best wishes for a successful surgery for Bob so he can be 100% again.

I'd read more! The illustrations were perfect. And I'm not truly fond of bodice rippers.

Nicely done … and best wishes to Bob on his upcoming surgery. You’ll both be in my prayers. Alas, creativity abandoned me this morning … so I’ve taken a different path today at Small Reflections … just because.
Hugs and blessings,
