Fun Monday

Our hostess this week is Jan of  Life According to Jan and Jer , this is what she says:

Hello everyone, I am a "Newbie" and would love to host "Fun Monday" I think I have enough experience to do it right. "FYI" two of us signed up this week, so our friend over at let me have it, Thanx!

Here is the assignment!
Since Next Tuesday is Veterans Day, I thought it would be nice to salute our Veterans and show our appreciation. Photo requirement of something patriotic.

Here's a poem:

It is the Soldier
Father Dennis Edward O'Brien

It is the Soldier,
not the reporter, who has given us freedom of press.

It is the Soldier,
not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier,
not the campus organizer, who gives us freedom to demonstrate.

It is the Soldier
who salutes the flag,
who serves beneath the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who allows the protester to burn the flag.

I think the most patriotic thing most of us can do is VOTE!

Your poem is so true, Jan. What strikes me as out of balance about our modern day wars are the numbers of poor, limited opportunity young men and women who are fighting our wars while we go about our daily business worrying about the price of gasoline or getting our Christmas shopping done. What happened to the idea of shared sacrifice?

That poem brought a tear to my eye, its so true, may we never forget. We take our freedoms in this country for granted. Thanks for sharing and God Bless. I agree, to vote is very patriotic.

Love the poem! I can't serve in the military, but I do vote. In 28 years, I have only missed ONE election! (was really sick)
