I ordered pre-planted tulips and paperwhites for my Christmas present to myself. My plan was they would arrive, and be in bloom in time for display on the mantle, for Christmas day. Well, as Robert Burns is frequently misquoted - "the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray". The tulips bloomed on the 26th, and the paperwhites haven't bloomed, but are eminent.
