Fun Monday

Mariposa is hosting this week's Fun Monday. This is what she ask:

(1) Please share to us how the NAME of your BLOG was made? I can't wait to hear interesting funny stories!
(2) Please share to us (in words or photo, though a combination of both will be a bonus!) your favorite/ most common dish!

She also says "SO easy right? ;)" Well, we'll see.

The names of my blogs - naming my blogs was easy, I'd already been using the names as websites, so when I transferred to Blogger, I just kept the same names:

Love's Books and Tea

Loves Books & Tea

Loves Books and Tea was my first website, and is the only one without part of my name in it. I had a hard time coming up with a name, I played with it for a while before settling on Loves Books and Tea. Yes, I love books, I don't drink coffee, but I love tea; so it worked for me. I don't think this qualifies as funny or interesting; sorry Mariposa.

Hmm, now the hard part, my favorite/most common dish. I chose my favorite snacks.

When I take a "treat" to work, I think the fav is:

JP's Peanut Candy Bar

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
    1/3 cup melted butter
    1 egg
1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips, (or a large Hershey's chocolate bar, broken)
    2/3 cup light corn syrup
    1/4 cup butter
    2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups Reese’s Peanut Butter chips
    2 cups salted peanuts
1 1/2 cups crisp rice cereal

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  • Mix together the cake mix, 1/3-cup butter and the egg.

  • Press into the bottom of one 9x13 inch pan and bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.

  • Remove from oven, pour chocolate chips evenly over top of cake.

  • Return to oven for 2 minutes.

  • Remove from oven and spread to cover, allow to cool.

  • In a saucepan, over medium heat, cook corn syrup, 1/4-C. butter, vanilla and peanut butter chips until melted.

  • Remove from heat and stir in the cereal and peanuts.

  • Spoon mixture evenly over top of cake and spread to cover. Cool before serving. Cut into small pieces, it's very rich.

This is the second most requested snack, at work:

COOKIES–AND–CREAM CAKE

Cake:

  • 1 White cake mix

  • 1 ¼ cups water

  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

  • 3 egg whites

  • 14 Oreo Cookies, crushed

Frosting:

  • 1 can Vanilla Frosting - 16 oz

  • 6 Oreo Cookies, crushed

Preheat Oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 – inch pan.

In a large bowl, combine cake mix, water, oil and egg whites until smooth; gently stir in crushed cookies. Pour batter into pan.

Bake 30 - 35 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.

Frost with vanilla frosting; sprinkle with the remaining crushed cookies.

These are the most popular of my snack recipes.

Any dessert that starts with cake mix is good in my book! I admire your having multiple blogs. I've thought about it but I am so consumed with what I do right now...Jennifer

I have a ritual and sometimes it works. I start the morning with coffee - if nothing else a sip. Once at work, i delve into a soda of some sort. But if all else fails, I do indulge in several cups of tea for the rest of the day - various makes. Of late, I have been drinking white tea, which is herbal, but caffenated - very good. And when you throw in books, it makes me yearn for retirement and those things I really wish I had more time to do. NLM
