Imagine my shock when I booted up my desktop this morning and discovered this:
Now, Mr. Dogg and I have some things in common. We're both from Long Beach, and we both attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School, Home of Scholars and Champions. But, so did a whole gaggle of other people.
Here are some of our famous alums:

Professional skateboarder Terry Kennedy.
Nationally ranked badminton players include: Nicholas Jinadasa (men's singles, mixed doubles) , Samantha Jinadasa (women's doubles, mixed doubles)
Famous baseball players include Chase Utley, Milton Bradley, Randy Moffitt, and brothers Chris and 2007 Hall of Fame inductee Tony Gwynn.
Famous basketball players from Poly include Mack Calvin and Tyus Edney.
Famous football players from Poly include Carl Weathers, Hershel Dennis, Mark Carrier, Darnell Bing, Marcedes Lewis, Manuel Wright, Winston Justice, Samie Parker, Willie McGinest, Omar Stoutmire, Gene Washington, Tony Hill, Stephone Paige, Leonard Russell, Marquez Pope, Larry Croom, Earl McCullouch, DeSean Jackson and Don Sasa.
Military officers include Lieutenant Commander Mark Moland, United States Coast Guard.
Dr. Alan Edward Mouchawar (born August 8, 1960) is a former water polo player who won a silver medal for the United States at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. He is a graduate of Stanford University.

Poly has long been distinguished in both academics and athletics. The PACE magnet program and the CIC magnet program boast more total University of California admissions than any other high school in California. In 2005, Sports Illustrated Magazine named Polytechnic the "Sports School of the Century", which applauds Polytechnic's badminton, baseball, basketball, football, softball, and other sports programs. Harvard University’s recognition of Poly as the Most Successful High School in California in the number of graduates. Poly administers 704 Advanced Placement tests and enjoys an overall pass rate of 81%. Polytechnic has also received numerous prizes for its music program, including multiple (6) Grammy Awards. Long Beach Poly has also sent more players to the NFL than any other high school in the country.
None of the above have ever hijacked my desktop, and I sincerely hope this never happens again. Thank you.

I think I would really be wondering if my background changed like that! Wow! That's a lot of people who have done stuff at your school! My ex was from Cali and he went to school with Debbie Harry/Blondie. It was cool seeing her in his high school yearbook. :)
