Fun Monday

This is Jo's assignment, this week:  "March 2nd is my Mom's birthday and was her mother's birthday as well.  For this week's Fun Monday, tell me something fun about your mother and/or her mother.   What fun, weird, laughable memories do you have of your Mom or your Grandma?"

This is my Mom.  I've known her for 64 years and have many memories of her, of course.  I can't remember too many that fit the fun, weird, laughable  catagories; so I'll tell you some things about her.
  • Almost everyone who meets Mom, loves her.
  • She goes to church at least once a week.
  • She's 86 and still drives.
  • She is always positive.  She has several ailments that cause her pain, but she never complains.
  • She is forever young.  She has lived in a senior community for over 30 years, and doesn't socialize much, there, because the other residents are so old.  (Many are my age or younger.)  She will always tell you how young she is and/or how young everyone thinks she looks.
  • She thinks the above photo I took 2 years ago, makes her look old.
  • She has very strong genes, as witnessed in this bleary photo of me, Carrie, Mom, Bob and Sharon, taken by Oden last Thanksgiving.

Happy Birthday to your Mom! I'm so happy for both of you--that you still have her in your life and she's so "young." And that she has you, who realize what a blessing it is to have her.

Your Mother has lovely eyes, Jan. Such a beautiful color and so lively. My dearest wish is to be mid-80s and still not want to hang around with the "old" folks!

I love her attitude "Forever Young"....and what she says about her senior community residents. Too funny....but, hey....HIGH FIVE to your mom!!

Mine is posted. Do stop by...once again, it's a 'hoot' of a story.

Jan, she's a wonderfully attractive, sweet looking woman. You're very lucky to have her! And she's lucky to have you!
BTW, that quote about the snowmobile by Matt Groenig - I didn't know he was the writer of the Simpsons. Ha! :)

You are so Blessed to still have your Mom. She looks wonderful and nowhere near her age. Hope you got some of her good genes.

I wonder why some people are blessed with long active lives? Is it the way they live? Is it the blessings of healthy genes? Is it positive thinking? Oh my... if she could bottle it and sell it, you would be rich.

Those twinkling eyes and that smile are what make her look young - and those were captured perfectly in that picture she thinks makes her look old!

I suspect that your mom is a VERY young 86!

Your mother is right she doesn't look her age at all. Still driving at that age is marvellous, I had an uncle who was able to drive until be was 95 and he died at 103.
