I'm so happy

Lupines are one of my favorite wildflowers, and they're blooming in Murrieta, right now.

December Sunflowers

These photos were taken yesterday, 12/06/08. My sunflowers are now, as tall as I am, 5'6". I think they may get to be over 6 feet, if the weather holds out.

I haven't posted photos from my garden, in a while. I don't remember the names of all the roses in my garden, but these, I remember! I took all of these photos two days ago.

Today's Flowers

This week I'm showing rose close-ups, from my garden.
I have about 20 roses in my garden, and I love taking photos of them.
Right now, they're still blooming; and I took these this in the past week.

I took these photos, this Saturday, while visiting Mission San Luis Rey.  A National Historic Landmark founded in 1798, Mission San Luis Rey is the largest of the 21 California Missions and recently ranked first among the Seven Wonders of San Diego County North, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Today's Flowers

Please visit Today's Flowers, to see the other Flower People.  Luiz has added co-hosts, Denise and Alecrim.

These are some of the wonderful flowers I found when I visited the Botanical Building in Balboa Park, recently.  The entire building smells devine, from all the flowers.  The top three are orchids, of course, and I think the bottom one is a beguoia.  I didn't take notes; just click, click click with my trusty point and shoot.

Today's Flowers

Last Sunday, I took a mental-health day. I needed some time alone, and I drove to San Diego for a look around. My main destination was Balboa Park, but first I visited the wonderful Hillcrest neighborhood. I spotted this tree on Front Street. I have no idea what type of tree it is, but I think it's beautiful.

It is planted on the parkway, so if you live in the house on the corner, you can sit in theses chairs and have a wonderful view of the tree. If you know what type of tree this is, let me know.

Today's Flowers

This is my only hydrangea. I really love it, and I wish I had more shade in the yard to accommodate another plant or two. In the valley I live in, it's too hot in the summer for hydrangea to survive without shade.

Today's Flowers

This is nicotina, a lovely, summer annual, its fragrance will fills the garden. Hummingbirds and butterflies love the fragrant, star-shaped flowers. The fragrance is similar to jasmine. This year my bush grew to about 8 feet, until it toppled over. After I'd removed the damage, it re-grouped and started blooming again! I planted this bush about 8 years ago, and it just keeps coming back every year. Now for the bad part: all parts of plant are poisonous if eaten, so don't eat it.

Sentimental...Today's Flowers

This is an email from an old friend, I think it has the right sentiment:

There comes a point in your life when you realize:
who matters, who never did, who won't anymore...

and who always will. So, don't worry about people from

your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

Give these flowers to everyone you don't want to lose in 2008,

including me, if that's what is in your heart.

Try to collect 12; it's not easy!

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
